Prevent Further Damage: This is easier said than done when it comes to preventing additional damages to your vehicle. As soon as possible, and when it’s safe to do so, pull your vehicle off the road and, if needed, call Consumers Choice Roadside Assistance Towing hotline. Roadside Assistance is accessible 24/7/365 and can help you take your car to where it needs to go for repairs. Call (800) 289-3920

Take the covered Vehicle to a Licensed Repair Facility:  You can take your covered vehicle to any Licensed Repair Facility of your choice. What we consider a Licensed Repair Facility is a for-profit entity, recognized by the state, in the business of repairing motor vehicles. We don’t require customers to visit a specified location, so as long as the shop is certified, you are good to go. Make sure to provide the Licensed Repair Facility a copy of your Consumers Choice Contract or Contract number prior to any repairs being performed to your vehicle.

Obtain Authorization from the Administrator:  Prior to any repairs being made, instruct the licensed repair facility to contact the Administrator to obtain an authorization for the claim. Contact us at (833) 342-2794 as soon as possible to get the ball rolling. If any claims for repairs are made without prior authorization, they will not be covered except as provided under under the emergency repair section of the Contract. Should an emergency occur which requires a repair of a breakdown to be made at a time when the Administrator’s office is closed, refer to your Agreement to determine if the breakdown is due to the failure of a covered part and there are no listed exclusions or waiting period in effect that apply. For a simple repair (any repair requiring two hours or less of labor time to complete) that is determined to be a covered part, authorize the Licensed Repair Facility to perform the repair, and call the Administrator for instructions within five business days, during normal business hours. On major repairs (any repair requiring more than two hours of labor time to complete), determine the failure and repair costs and then contact the Administrator on the next normal business day for an authorization before the repairs are performed.

Authorize Tear-Down and/or Inspection: In some cases you may need to authorize the Licensed Repair Facility to inspect and/or tear-down your vehicle in order to determine the cause and cost of the repair. As long as the breakdown is a covered failure, Consumers Choice will pay for the tear down and/or inspection.

Review Coverage: After the Administrator has been contacted, review what will be covered by the Consumers Choice Contract with the Licensed Repair Facility.

Pay the Applicable Deductible: Upon completion of the authorized repair, you must pay to the Licensed Repair Facility any required deductible. Consumers Choice will reimburse the Licensed Repair Facility or you for the cost of the work performed on your vehicle that is covered by the Contract and previously authorized, less your deductible.
